Tami Grammer

Now retired, Tami Grammer started her public safety dispatcher career in 1997 with the City of Mount Shasta Police and Fire Departments and Mount Shasta Ambulance. She dispatched for the City of Hayward Police and Fire Departments for two years and finished her career with Shasta Area Safety Communications Agency (SHASCOM) retiring in 2020. During her time with SHASCOM, she was promoted to an acting supervisor and served as a Communications Training Officer for 14 years.

Tami served on numerous committees associated with her agency’s training program seeking ways to make the training process easier for all involved. Tami implemented interactive instructional tools and techniques while working one-on-one with her trainees. Given the opportunity to attend a POST Master Instructor Course, Tami decided to help trainers by creating a class that positively addressed the different challenges of training. She graduated in June 2018, creating a course title “A Positive Approach to the Challenges of Training, which she still teaches today.

Tami has taught leadership and interpersonal skills at CALNENA and CLEARS conferences. She has facilitated both in-person and online sessions of her courses. Tami has also co-facilitated online de-escalation classes for a large team from a private sector company.
